Disney’s new systems for making the most out of your Disney park day is called Disney Genie and Genie+. These are found in the Disneyland App for Disneyland and the My Disney Experience App for Disney World. Disney Genie is a complimentary “Genie” that suggests attractions and things to do in the park based on your likes.

Lightning Lanes and Upgrading to Genie+
If you are looking to get the most rides in with the shortest wait times, you will want to think about upgrading to the paid level called Genie +.
Beginning at 12:00 am the day that you are visiting any Disney park, you can purchase Genie+ for you and anyone that is linked as a friend or family member in your My Disney Experience app. Genie+ is about $15-$35 per person per day, not including children 2 and under (they are free!). Note: Genie + can sell out so the earlier you can purchase this, the better.
Beginning at 7:00 am the day that you are visiting the park, you can make your first Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation. This is also when you can try your luck to join the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy and Tron Lightcycle Run (this would make the ride free – Genie+ not required) or you can pay for this ride, or any Individual Lightning Lane rides that you want to be sure not to miss (currently these are $15-$35 per person per ride and include Star Wars Rise of the Resistance, Tron Lightcycle Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, and Avatar Flight of Passage – Genie+ not required).
Then, two hours after the park opens OR once you tap into your Lightning Lane queue for your first reservation (whichever comes first) you can make your next Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation.
You can make additional Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations every 2 hours OR once you’ve tapped into a Lightning Lane queue, whichever comes first.
